For this challenge-get your thinking caps on- and use one of your favorite films as inspiration for a layout. If you watched Project Runway last night you were no doubt as blown away as I was by the creativity some of the designers used when creating their period garments. Good Luck!

If you watched Project Runway last night I am sure you were just as blown away by the newspaper fashions as I was! I kept thinking this is a project for scrappers, no doubt we know a zillion
and one creative things to do with paper.
So that's your challenge for week 5. Make a layout that includes newspaper! Be sure to post it in our special Project Runway Gallery found in the Challenge section at RockyMountainHobbies.com.
And now for your Extra! Extra! I had a little technical glitch last week that prevented me from posting your Week 4 Challenge. So if your up for a little extra inspiration here it is:
Create a layout all about you. Think of it as an "about the author" type page to put in your scrapbook. You are hoping that your scrapbooks will last for generations, aren't you? Well those reading it in the future are going to want to know about you! Chances are you are usually the photographer and aren't featured very often in your work. So get your thinking caps on and let everyone know a little about the artist.

Since this is the second challenge in our Project Runway Series, we thought it would only be appropriate to give you 2 options!
Option 1: Pregnancy Challenge
You know you've got them somewhere- pregnancy pictures! But, have you scrapped those photos?
Option 1 is to scrap a picture of yourself while pregnant using your choice of these garments from last night's episode of Project Runway! Forget those sailor collars and goofy big bows...scrap your pregnancy with some chic style!
Choice 1: Mom to Be About Town - Mitchell's Design

Choice 2: High Fashion Mom to Be- Althea's Design

Option2: Lingerie' Inspired
The judges thought that Louise's design looked to much like lingerie'. For option 2 you can scrap about anything you'd like to scrap about-using lingerie' as your inspiration! Think sheer, lace, fasteners and bows.
Once you've chosen your option -Make it work!- and be sure to post your finished project in our special Project Runway Challenge Gallery.

Rocky Mountain Hobbies member Amy Fuller "made it work"! She cut and arranged drinking straw to create a fun and funky flower on this lovely layout of her Mom. She cut and used a receipt from a restaurant as patterned paper for an interesting look- this layout definitely didn't bore the judges! Way to go, Amy!

For those of you not familiar with Project Runway and for those of you who are here's a little inspiration from last season....the challenge was " The Fashion That Drives You" and the contestants had to use things from an Auto Parts Store. Here 's one of my favorites:
This jacket was Designed by Korto. It's made from Seat Belts.
Yes, the same seat belts we all have in our vehicles and use
everyday without giving them as much of as a thought.
The jacket has nothing to do with cars or safety. It's just an
awesome coat made from an unconventional material.
For our restaurant challenge that's what I am hoping you
will do...find something or a combination of things commonly
found in a restaurant and then use those items for your
layout.
Here's my plan:
1). Finish this Blog Post.
2). Make myself presentable.
3). Treat myself to an Egg & Cheese Biscuit at a local
fast food place.
4). While there look for things that inspire me or have
potential.
5). Head home, eat biscuit, and get Scrappin' !

I hope you were able to watch the Project Runway shows last night..if not don't worry you'll still be able to participate in the challenges without any problem. What inspires me about the show is how the Designers are given a concept, a dollar amount and a time limit and how they each come up with something very unique. The winners always have one thing in common, they go for it, they aren't afraid to take a chance or fail. They push themselves to think of something new, something "out of the box". That's your goal during this challenge series- Go For It! Think out of the Box! Don't Be Afraid to Fail!
Challenge 1Episode 1
Restaurant Challenge
For our purposes I was most inspired by the Project Runway All-Star Challenge show's little twist- The Restaurant Challenge.
Your challenge is to use things found in a Restaurant to create a 12x12 Scrapbook layout.
Your layout cannot be about food or restaurants. The idea here is to take the restaurant items and use them to make something unexpected. Last night on the show place mats became a gorgeous bodice, lava rocks from a vase a gorgeous texture, drapes and exquisite dress. Get the idea? Be Creative!
If you have time take a photograph of the items you plan to use before their transformation. Then get to work! Post your finished project in the Gallery. You have until Midnight (eastern) Monday, August 24th to Make it Work!
